Big Tech might seem ESG, but watch indirect emissions
Of course, Google does not have a refinery in its headquarters, nor does it throw used toxic water in the sea - not that we know of, at least - but they have staggering indirect emissions. Those are emissions resulting from activities where the asset is not owned or controlled by the organization, but that it impacts through its value chain. These indirect emissions are often overlooked and this bias can make us think that some companies are all green, when they're sometimes really anything but that.
