Coal loses popularity in India

Coal mining is experiencing a continued decline after the growing popularity of alternatives such as natural gas and renewables. Only China is increasing its coal production along other energy resources, but by and large, coal tends to disappear from most countries around the world. India saw the first decline in coal-generated electricity over the last two years. If coal has been going up and down for the country, it looks like it is on a more durable decline from this year on. This decrease in popularity goes hand in hand with an uptick of solar and wind energy in 2015.
