Container shipping rates have skyrocketed--more to come ?

The problem with price being this high now is that when contracts are renewed for the next 12 months, companies will be forced to incur larger expenses. This could translate to higher prices to consumers or smaller earnings for firms. Contract rates in recent weeks are coming in around $2,500 to $3,000 for a 40-foot container which is 25% to 50% higher than a year ago.
