Covid-19 accelerating already existing trends - e.g Retail Sales E-commerce

Online retail sales grew by more than 25% on a year-on-year basis for the fifth consecutive month. Not only were US retail sales again stronger than expected, they also confirmed that the pandemic has accelerated the changes in the way people shop.  Obviously, partial or full lockdowns are an important reason for more online shopping, but it is likely that faster e-commerce penetration will persist as people become more accustomed to online shopping. In addition, more companies are facilitating the change in consumer behavior.
