FTSE 100 hits fresh 14-month high as Conservatives win Hartlepool bi-elction for first time in 50-years

Labour has suffered a humiliating byelection defeat in Hartlepool after the party’s former heartland town elected a Conservative MP for the first time in 62 years. It is only the second time in nearly 40 years that a governing party has taken a seat from the opposition.
