Human space flight: an evolution

Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of the very first human space flight performed by the Russian Yuri Gagarin. The 108 minutes flight was a triumph for the Soviet Union and marked the beginning of the space age. Since this very bold move, around 500 people from 40 different countries have ventured into space. The infographic down below shows how many took off each year, and also gives us information about the gender share.
