The SEC starts a SPAC-investigation

The US securities regulator has opened an inquiry on Wall Street's blank check companies, with the goal to examine the risks taken and how bankers measure them. SPACs are the gold rush of the year, raising a record $170 billion this year, already outpacing last year's total of $157 billion. Easy monetary conditions and less regulatory constraints were the keys to attract vast sums, but the frenzy has started to meet with investor skepticism, and did not fail to ultimately attract the eye of regulators.
