Toyota supplier warns that chip crunch will last until 2022
Japan's Rohm Co. has predicted that critical semiconductors for autos and industrial machinery will be in low supply for at least the rest of next year, adding to dire predictions of further consequences from the worldwide chip crisis. Last September, the company began expanding its capacity and plans to spend another 70 billion yen ($636 million) this fiscal year, but the full benefit of such expenditures would not be evident right away because production machinery takes longer to arrive, he added.
