UK inflation rate jumps to 9-year high

Annual inflation rate in the UK jumped to 3.2% in August of 2021, the highest since March 2021, from 2% in July and above market forecasts of 2.9%. A low base effect from last year had the biggest impact, because, in part, of discounted restaurant and café prices in August 2020 resulting from the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme and, to a lesser extent, reductions in Value Added Tax across the same sector. @TradingEconomics
