The ECB seems to take center stage this week. Here is the complete week ahead to get you started on the right footing.
Week Ahead Synopsis
The ECB decision may be the policy highlight of the week in the region, but euro-zone data will also give investors plenty to chew on. Factory orders and industrial production from Germany, Europe’s biggest economy, as well as manufacturing statistics from France, Italy and Spain, will all show the strength of factory activity at the start of the third quarter in July, before global supply bottlenecks began to bite. All eyes seem to be turning to the ECB's debate over its massive PEPP asset purchasing program considering the bloc's brighter economic outlook and whether or not it will decide to cutting back. In Canada, its central bank will probably leave interest rates at their record lows (we will see on Wednesday!). In the UK, the calendar is jam packed with key updates on monthly GDP, manufacturing production, and trade numbers. Britain's economy likely grew half a percent in July. The ECB will likely leave monetary policy unchanged Thursday but investors will be monitoring the debate after the ECB's more hawkish members called on the bank to reduce its bond purchases.
