The week ahead: all eyes on inflation data

Read the key events to monitor for the week which starts on May 10, 2021.

After April’s disappointing jobs report, market focus will shift squarely to inflation in the week ahead. The consumer price index is the big item for markets in the week ahead. Multiple Fed speakers are on the calendar.

The tug-of-war over tech stocks will also continue to be a dominant force in the stock market, after Friday’s bounce more than halved the week’s losses in the S&P technology sector.

Earnings season winds down with a few more big names such as Disney and AirBNB.
